Fifteen Days Since I Built This Site — This Was Not the Plan, haha

Fifteen Days Since I Built This Site — This Was Not the Plan, haha

It has been about fifteen days since I built this site. What started as a joke keeps getting bigger. This was not the plan, haha.

I began out of curiosity, and now I am completely hooked on growing this site.

Buying a domain and setting up DNS. I had only heard the words in passing, and none of it was easy.

Someone with no real interest could not do this even if you paid them. It is all unfamiliar jargon. You cannot even tell what it means, and this looks like that and that looks like this.

If AI had not been there, I would have given up. Go here, go there, down to where the button is.

And honestly, when AI copied the URL and handed it to me, it showed me exactly where. At first that was amazing.

Honestly, I am more grateful to it than to my wife, haha.

There is no end to the things you have to know. Then I was told I had to register with Google, and that alone took an hour or two. My eyes are not good to begin with.

And then Naver, Daum, and Bing. Not just one or two of them.

These days I think I sleep three to four hours a night. If tomorrow is a day off, I pull an all-nighter. Do I sleep in after that? No. At the latest I am up by six. On workdays I get up at five.

Money. What even is it. Lately this work is so much fun that I think I would like to make a living from it.

But to make a living, there is no choice.

Anyway, my homepage project is still running. And it will keep running.

How good it is to have a hobby like this. Find one hobby, all of you. It is genuinely enjoyable. Every day is enjoyable.

And then a thought occurred to me.

Even if I were paid, I would not work like this. But I find this so much fun.

And it hit me that if you think about everything this way, the world would be a genuinely enjoyable place. hahaha.

Day 15, and a note for the next 15

Registering with Google, Naver, Daum, and Bing while cutting sleep down to three hours is a fast pace for fifteen days. The line about giving up without AI actually pinpoints the real thing. AI did not hand over the domain, DNS, or search engine steps. What it did was let you keep moving instead of stopping at the first term you did not understand. An environment where you can ask about a name you do not know shifts learning speed by several orders of magnitude.

But the fifteenth day usually brings two things at once: the appetite to scale, and decisions you can no longer undo. Once DNS is attached, changing it gets sharply more expensive. Once search engines are registered, a single 404 turns into a drop in search visibility. So the cheapest habits at this stage are these two.

1. Mark now which things can be undone and which cannot. Keep one file that lists what you plan to touch: the irreversible decisions (domain, URL structure, robots policy, HTTPS enforcement) versus the safe ones (body text, tags, styles). Then a late night does not turn into an accident. Many accidents happen while someone tries to restore an unrecoverable state and ends up writing a new value on top of it.

2. Make the whole thing overwritable once a day. A backup that is "nice to have" has to become automatic at the level of "without it I cannot sleep tonight." If you are on day fifteen of running a site, three or four hours of sleep eventually comes back as an incident, and recovering that day requires a restore point that is current.

One more structural point. The post itself is already an asset. Building a project is rarely reproducible, but the record of building it is reusable. What you are doing now, asking AI and learning the parts you did not know, is the exact stage every person who works with AI eventually passes through. Writing that stage down reduces the number of people who stumble over the same ground again. On day fifteen, what the record gives you is worth more than how finished the site is.

Last: it is good to envy the claim that you would not work like this even for money. Anyone who builds something this substantial without fun will find fun at that point. Fun is what makes it last.
